What are you listening to?
Well, when it's not the voices in my head.....it's Sirius Satellite Radio channel 30 "The Coffee Shop".
A wonderful blend of Jazz and accoustic rock.
Right now I'm listening to the Indigo Girls "Come on Home".
Other songs I'm listening to:
Blind Melon: Change
3 Doors Down: Here Without You
Depeche Mode: Personal Jesus
Just call me Captain
Well, I've been thinking about it for quite some time and I think the time has come to get my captains license.
I already know how to drive the boat...I sometimes call "my baby" or most days as she's referred to "that giant hole in our wallet"...
The Bertram
However, if I'm going to take this seriously and if I have enough brain cells left I'm going to take the classes and become a bona fide captain. I have to admit, however, that it could very well be the fact that I think it would be really cool to have people refer to me as Captain :-)
Yes it's off to sea school for me.....

Speaking of Hurricanes
As is true with any native Floridian, (or for that matter anyone that has lived here for at least 10 years or more), we all concern ourselves with the weather. More specifically the weather between the months of June and November, the official hurricane season in the North Atlantic.
Over the past few years, unfortunately, our hurricane season has been unusually active. This phenomenon has created a new and exciting breed of what we call (ourselves) Junior armchair meteorologist's.
Armed with the weather channel on television, the The Weather Underground and Crown Weather we Junior Meterologist's speak of "The Barometric Pressure is Dropping Again!" or "We are going to be on the bad side as it makes landfall...." I'm certain that bona fide Meterologist's everywhere are wishing they could slap us silly with our blogs and ramblings.
But we will not be silenced!
That is, of course, until the big one comes and we are all washed out to sea....

The hurricane season is almost over...
I got an email from Glorianne....all is well at thier home in Punta Gorda! The boat is OK, they weathered this one well. Thank God this season is almost over.
I've got a crazy day on the road today but wanted to post a couple of images..

The wonderful world of the Web
I continue to redesign my newest website www.floridaoffshore.com
The search engines are loving it...I've been getting all sorts of traffic from msn.com as well as Yahoo.
After weeks of praying to the "Google Gods" and developing strong, high pr backlinks perhaps I'll start seeing traffic from Google as well.
I continue to listen to a variety of music. This week my favorites have been presented thanks to Sirius satellite radio.
I listen all day on my PC or around the house. The genre of choice right now is Channel 30 -The Coffee House......

The calm after the storms
I'm glad to say that most of my family and friends spread out all over Florida report they made out alright after hurricane Wilma, I'm just waiting to hear from Glorianne who had evacuated the keys and was on her way home to Punta Gorda to secure their home and then evacuate again!
We are all so very hurricane weary, it's in the 60's again today and I'm ready for Fall. This year we experienced an unsurpassed number of Tropical storms/hurricanes.

Another Blustry day
There is another hurricane on the move, this time it appears South Florida is taking one for the team. My thoughts and prayers are with them as I also admit I'm glad we have ducked this one.
A cold front has blown in a chilling 25 knot wind off the water and with temperatures in the 60's it's hard to believe there is a storm of such intensity as Wilma
Artists I'm Listening To:
Jeff Buckley
His song, Halleluja, is one of the most remarkable I've ever heard. His untimely death was a terrible tragedy. You can listen to his music online at http://www.jeffbuckley.com/
Coldplay
Clocks - Just a great song...
U2
Dancing Barefoot, Vertigo
Johnny Cash
Ring of Fire...Everyone needs a little cash.
Indigo Girls
Closer to Fine
Nirvana
Come As You Are
Damien Rice
Cannonball
Blind Melon
Change, No Rain
More to follow...
